In accordance with Article 22 of the Federal Law, the decision on the termination of citizenship may be due to the following reasons: 

• in case of refusal to take the oath of the citizen of the Russian Federation;
  
• if in obtaining citizenship the applicant submitted false documents or false information. The fact of forgery is established in court;
• if the applicant had no intention to bear the duties of a citizen of the Russian Federation established by law;
• the purpose of acquiring citizenship of the Russian Federation was to carry out activities that pose a threat to the foundations of the constitutional system of the Russian Federation.

It is impossible to deprive the citizenship of the Russian Federation a person who has become a citizen by birth. But you can cancel the decision on obtaining citizenship even after many years, if it turns out that the applicant violates the laws of the Russian Federation, engages in terrorist activities.

This practice exists in most foreign countries. For violation of the laws new citizens may lose their citizenship.
